Fans of the beloved fantasy book series can look forward to a fresh adaptation, as Disney has officially greenlit an animated television show based on Artemis Fowl. The upcoming series is planned for distribution across both Disney Channel and Disney+, giving the franchise a new home on television screens. This announcement arrives as the literary property celebrates a major milestone, marking twenty-five years since the publication of the very first novel.

The exciting project was revealed by author Eoin Colfer himself during a dedicated anniversary panel at New York Comic Con 2026. Colfer's presence at the event highlighted the ongoing cultural footprint of his mastermind protagonist and the rich fantasy world he established decades ago. By bringing the characters back into the spotlight through animation, the creative team aims to capture the distinct tone of the original stories in a fresh episodic format.

Importantly, the author will remain closely connected to the production by serving as an executive producer on the animated series. Disney has emphasized that this direct collaboration will allow Colfer to contribute his creative vision directly to the adaptation. According to the network, this partnership is designed to dig much deeper into the characters and intricate lore that fans have cherished throughout the history of the publication.

While specific premiere dates and casting details have yet to be fully revealed, the greenlight signals a renewed commitment to the intellectual property. This animated endeavor follows previous attempts to bring the sprawling fantasy universe to life on screen, offering a fresh avenue for both longtime readers and new audiences to experience the adventures of the young criminal mastermind.
