DC Studios has officially tapped writer and director Francis Galluppi to helm the script for a brand new John Constantine feature film. The announcement brings the iconic DC occult detective back into the cinematic spotlight under the current DC Studios banner. Fans of the supernatural investigator have eagerly awaited a new solo cinematic outing for the character following years of various rumors and unmaterialized projects across different studio iterations.

This cinematic endeavor originates from initial industry reports indicating that the studio is actively shaping its sprawling slate with diverse creative voices. Francis Galluppi recently gained significant attention within the horror and genre filmmaking space for his work on the Evil Dead franchise, making him a fitting choice for the dark, gritty, and mystical tones inherent to Constantine's noir-infused adventures.

While the writer-director is officially attached to pen the screenplay, industry sources indicate that the production remains in the very early stages of development. Because the project is currently in its nascent phase, studio executives and representatives have not yet confirmed whether Galluppi will also take on directorial duties for the feature film. Furthermore, official announcements regarding casting choices, plot specifics, or a targeted theatrical release window have not been disclosed by the studio at this time.

As development on the script continues behind the scenes, followers of the character will likely monitor how this supernatural project fits into the broader narrative landscape. The inclusion of a distinct genre talent like Galluppi signals a concerted effort by the studio to lean into atmospheric storytelling for its darker characters. Additional details concerning the film's production timeline and talent attachments are expected to emerge as the script development progresses further.
